winter walking

Due to popular demand, we will run 3 trips this year.

This 2 day trip is a Winter Skills Course combined with a high winter camp. Camping equipment can be supplied

Tha Mamores Scotland

This course is designed to enhance the winter experience, with reduced leg work!! Based around Kinlochleven and Glencoe.

Meeting in the morning, we'll walk into the selected high camp site, set up tents for a relaxed lunch, then we will spend the afternoon and early evening learning how to use an axe and crampons efficiently, with a good chance to summit a mountain for sunset (If the weather allows).

The next morning, we will get higher, learning plenty more about winter hazards and tactics, returning to the tents around lunchtime. We will then eat the rest of our food whilst packing up, then wander out in the afternoon.

We are happy for you to use your own winter camping kit, or we can supply you with the following:-

Mountain Tent (4 Season)

Sleeping bag (4 Season, down or synthetic)

Sleeping mat

Gas stove and pan set.

Large rucksack.

Travelling by foot with all your equipment on your back, to a remote Coastal Beach, a high Summit, or anywhere inbetween... These trips are tailored for your needs.

This 2 day overnight adventure can teach you the skills needed for a safe night out, including:-

Camping equipment/Packing and carrying a Rucksack/  Suitable Site selection/ Water and Cooking/ Sanitary Issues/ Getting prepared for a Storm!/Quirky Tips...

Pitching the tent in Winter

With the right preperation, we find this much more rewarding than sleeping on a noisy Campsite.

The Highlands have a huge amount of beautiful Wild Sites only a short walk away from civilisation, so most levels of fitness is possible, but the ability to carry your own "home" is essential.

Why not combine this with a Photography Trip!
