… There are lots of people out there that dream of an ascent on Mount Everest or wonder about the physical challenge that successful Summiteers need to endure to realise their dream. We want to make it possible for all people to feel what the physical challenge is, but without the 3-month timescale, crossing glaciers or dealing with the thin air!!!

Ben Nevis Summit

The Ben Everest Challenge is a chance to “re-enact” the actual distance and height gain required to reach Everest’s Summit from Base Camp, and of course, back again. The distance is 25 miles, and a height gain of 3413m.

This journey is made possible on and around Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest mountain.

It is as simple doing “The Ben” twice, then head back up to the summit of Meall an t-Suidhe, a satellite Peak.

All in 24 hours!!!!

Walk the height and distance...
on Ben Nevis!

Hosted with Nick Hollis... A Seven Summiteer

Nick Hollis Everest Summit 2019

Only a handful of people in the UK have completed the mammoth Seven Summits Challenge ( The Seven Summits are the highest mountains of each of the seven continents). Nick Hollis shares the lessons and techniques he’s picked up on his expeditions and from managing extreme survival situations, to inspire other people to push their limits and achieve their own goals. Witnessing success and failure in abundance on the mountainside, his experience working with teams of all different nationalities, skill sets and ambitions have enabled him to fulfill his ambition of completing The Seven Summits.    nickhollis.com

Nick will play a big part in the Challenge, working alongside you. He can answer any questions you have about what it is like working towards a life time achievement, how to live in "The Death Zone", and inspire us all.

What is involved?

Starting at 10pm, the first ascent of Ben Nevis will be made in darkness, with the return in the early morning air.

Time expected- 10pm to 5am. 10 miles and 1350m of ascent.

2 hours rest at Base Camp.

The second ascent will be during the daytime hours, giving you a chance to take your mind off the journey, and a chance to enjoy the stunning views.

Time expected- 7am to 2pm. 10 miles and 1350m of ascent.

3 hours rest at Base Camp.

The "Final Summit Push" will be the small peak next door to Ben Nevis, Meall an t-Suidhe. From that summit you can see most of your route up The Ben, with a chance to be extremely proud of your achievement so far... Now the final descent, back to the start/finish for a very welcome rest at Base Camp. 5 miles and 713m of ascent.

Descending Ben Nevis

The joy of this particular journey is that anyone that would like to come along and cheer one their loved one doesn’t have to walk often. They can just head to a location, and hang around there as the loved one passes them 6 times… They can bring a picnic and enjoy the scenery…

It will be staffed by our very well trusted local Mountain Leaders, with a few thousand ascents between us (I have been on top 400 times alone!), and we hope to attract dozens of participants, and will be aimed towards anyone that is fit for an endurance challenge, whether a Rambler, Hillwalker, mountain runner, or just wants to find out their own limits.

Participation and Entry.

All participants are expected to be physically fit for this event. You must be able to move for extended periods of time. It is not a technical route, and not too steep, but you will be exposed to mountain weather, and as such, good hillwalking clothing is essential. Stout footwear is needed, and walking poles are highly recommended. You will also need to carry a rucksack with spare clothing inside, along with food and water to keep you going. A torch will also be necessary for the first and final ascents.
